Injection Molding Cost

What drives injection molding cost: tooling, material, cycle time, cavitation, volume and finishing.

How much does injection molding cost?

There is no single price per part. Cost is a combination of tooling, material, cycle time, cavitation, volume, finishing and freight. The same part can quote very differently depending on the tool and the volume.

Cost drivers

Driver Impact How to reduce
Tooling One-time cost; cavitation and steel drive it Bridge tool, simpler tool, stable design
Material Resin grade and color Use the grade the application needs, not more
Cycle time Machine time per part Cooling, wall thickness, gate
Cavitation Parts per cycle Match cavitation to volume
Finishing Paint, print, assembly Specify only visible requirements
Freight Packaging and shipping Plan packaging and Incoterms early

Why we do not give an instant quote

A real quote needs the part, material, quantity, tooling route and inspection scope. An instant number without those inputs is usually wrong. Send the drawing and the volume; we will quote the actual route.

What to send

3D file or drawing, material, annual quantity, target date and any cosmetic requirements. If the design is open, tell us which decisions are still open.

Have a drawing or a target price?

Send the file and the quantity. We will reply with a DFM note and a quote, not a sales deck.
